Where do babies come from?

For the past few days I have been watching 2 cute boys in our ward while their mom is out of town and dad is at work. At ages 6 & 9, they are hilarious and I have definitely had my ear talked off. I've had a fun time and want to share with you a couple of my favorite quotes from the past 3 days... #1 While we are driving in the car Older Boy (OB) is telling Younger Boy (YB) about a funny story that happened before (YB) was born. Then (OB) goes on to talk about how a little while after that his mom went to the hospital and had (YB). This is the dialogue following... (YB): "Do the moms get all cut up when they have a baby?" (OB): "No it comes out of somewhere." (YB): "Where does it come out of?" (OB): "I don't know, some special place. You would have to ask a girl." (YB): "Lexie do you know where babies come out of?" Me: "Yes but I think that's something you should ask your mom about." (YB): ...

Candles & Crewcuts

Our little home smells like Anthropologie thanks to the lovely candle pictured above that I got in a package from my mom. So yummy. Also, I'm so excited because on October 25th our store is bringing on some of the new Crewcuts line! Yes I know I don't have kids yet, but who can resist miniature J.Crew!? And someday little kiddies will be roaming our roost.

Here In Iowa...

Here's a compilation of a few random photos taken since our move out here to Iowa. First off, the day after we got here my dad and Landon went golfing and Landon shot his first ever eagle. I'm hoping it means good luck for us while we're here. Here is the rig that we rode out here in. Isn't she a beauty? For real though, this guy drove this motor home from FLORIDA!? He was trying to patch it up at the gas station when we stopped some where in the middle of Nebraska. This thing looked like it came from the local scrap yard. It was hilarious to say the least if not short of a miracle. Our first weekend alone we went fishing and it was SO windy. We had to create a little shelter for Thor because he is deathly afraid of the wind. Landon's catch If you didn't know,...

Our Humble Abode

Here is the 360 tour of our humble abode here in Iowa. The lighting and such in these pics is horrible but it gives you an idea. P.S. if you didn't read my previous post, the chocolate pudding walls won't be staying for much longer :) The orange walls in the dining area were already here too. I'm not quite sure if I want to keep them or not. I don't want to completely repaint everything since we won't be here forever. What do you think? Good sized deck Dining area...Not quite loving all of this together but it will have to work for now. I will have to share the before picture of those chairs with you in another post. I got them at the DI for $4 a piece. They were brown before with nasty pink velvet upholstery. Kitchen Bench in our be...

Have you heard? Starting September 13th there will be a new Target designer collection. The 400 piece Missoni for Target collection will feature everything from clothing, to home decor, to bicycles and much more. Here are a few of my favorites...

Iowa State Fair

1/3 lb. bratwurst that Landon was really excited about :) Amazing sand sculpture My favorite painting in the art exhibit. Beautiful. Butter cow sculpture. (don't mind my lovely appearance. I was unpacking all day) Last week we ventured out to the main attraction in Iowa right now...The State Fair. It's huge compared to Utah's fair so we actually ended up going twice. Here is what our night out consisted of...quilts, artwork, sand and butter sculptures, livestock, fried pickles and oreos, and the best lemonade ever. The big novelty this year was fried butter but we didn't take the dive into that one. Landon also played the fast pitch game and won a blowup football (that Thor has since demolished) for guessing the speed of his 3rd throw. Oh and I forgot to mention the people watching...the Iowa State Fair is THE BEST ...

Lake Powell Highlights

The amazing James Clissold has done it again... here is the amazing video he put together of our trip to Lake Powell this summer. He also took the awesome pictures of our little family that I shared in this previous post.

Office Space

A Little More Feminine and Cooler Tones More of a Monochromatic Look Or....Spunky, Warmer Tones After only having 1 bedroom most of our marriage, we now have a second bedroom that I plan on turning into an office/art studio. Landon plans on using it as a study room but we'll see how long that lasts. I think he'll be too distracted at home, but who knows :). We already purchased the grey desk, white chair, and filing cabinet seen in the design plan (I found out yesterday that the desk is on back order and won't ship until Sept. 30! :S) and hopefully over the next few months we'll be able to get the green desk, Louis ghost chair, drapes, and rug. A little at a time of course. I'm still debating on the rug though! Which of these options do you like the best?

One Crazy Week, 2 Beautiful Weddings

Bride's Bouquet (love love loved!) Throw Bouquet Ceremony Arrangement (2 of these flanked the pergola) Cake (the most beautiful phaelonopsis orchids!) The week before we moved was CRAZY! Between packing and cleaning out everything, finishing projects, and trying to get together with friends and family, I was also doing 2 weddings by myself! I had committed to doing them while my boss was in Hawaii before I found out we were going to be moving that same weekend. (This is why I didn't leave until Saturday) But they both turned out AMAZING and I'm so glad I did it. The first wedding on Thursday was very traditional and all roses, but the roses I used were beyond beautiful and made the whole thing so great. T...

New Job

I'm very excited to share the news with you that I am the newest member of the JCrew Sales Team in West Des Moines, Iowa! The new mall here has the only JCrew in Iowa and I applied to work there the day after we arrived. Lucky for me I found out on the internet that they were hiring. I have ALWAYS wanted to work at JCrew but unless you know someone or they are actually hiring its pretty much impossible. I feel so lucky to have found a job so soon. We are definitely blessed! I'll let you know how it goes! Orientation is Wednesday. P.S. I am LOVING the skirt seen here in their August catalog.
