What's Been Up

We're back to the grind with school but we've still found time to do a few fun things lately... The picture above is from Boondock's. We went for date night last weekend and raced all the 12 year old on the go-carts and played some miniature golf. I do have to say that go-carts just aren't as fun when you're not 12 and its the closest thing you can get to driving a car :). But we still had lots of fun together and I have an obsession with photobooths so of course we had to document with a picture. Landon decided he better get his hunter's safety now that he has married into a family of hunters, and because even I have my hunter's safety ;). On Sept 11, of all days, he took his shooting test and of course he passed with flying colors. We went the day before and did some practice rounds and I decided to give it a try. I'd say I did pretty good... I also begged Landon to go to the State Fair so we went last Saturday with my fam. Yummy f...

New York New York

So I am finally posting pics of my trip to New York! I went with my mom and good friends Janey and Meg Jones. We had SO much fun! We ate at lots of fun places, did LOTS of shopping, went to 2 amazing broadway shows, visited the MOMA, experienced all forms of NY transportation, and didn't want to come home! My mom and I got to the MOMA and realized my camera was dead so all of my pictures there are on my phone so those will be in a later post. We met up with cute Whitney who grew up in my parents' ward and now lives in NY and has an awesome job as an interior designer with Drake Design Associates. Times Square Awesome Temple. The church we went to on Sunday is in the same building. Wicked! So amazing! We also saw The Lion King. I got a new camera ;) so I will be posting more in the near future, including pics from NY so check back soon! And check out my new post below about my latest project from school.

Whew

Whew am I glad to have this project over! This summer I took Space Planning, the only 4 credit class in the design program. The entire class consists of 1 partner project and 3 group projects. Let's just say that like most perfectionists I'm not the biggest fan of group projects. I learned a ton from the class but I am sure glad to have it be in the past. For our final project we had to design a 1,500 sq. ft. retail space and build a scaled model of it. We also had to make sure that everything was ADA accessible. If you don't know about ADA design you should go here and learn more about it. One of our previous projects was an old house that we had to remodel to meet ADA design standards and we learned a lot about it. Any GOOD design should meet ADA accessiblity guidelines. So we got to choose everything including the kind of store, the location, the name, the products sold, etc. My group came up with the idea to do a men's clothing boutique. The final project conce...

Nesting

Whenever I make an design changes to our apartment Landon says, "You're quite the little nester aren't you?" I have to admit, it's true... but what's wrong with that? Making our space reflect us and making it feel like ours instead of living in a plain jane apartment for 2 years really is something I enjoy. Designing makes me happy and really excited to have a place that is truly ours someday. I think I really have found my niche in life, something that I love to do. Here's a few shots of our living room. You can see what it used to look like when we first moved in here . You can see some of the DIY projects I've done and remember my TJMaxx yellow table I raved about in a previous post ... This cute little plant stand used to belong to my mom. It was painted a bluish gray and had a home in her living room at one point, but after painting the walls a different color she decided she didn't want it so I took it off her hands and painted it a bri...
