Wearing the Pants

Ok so I thought it would be fun to post about my favorite things at J.Crew. I have learned a lot more about all of the styles and fits they carry since working there and now love the store even more. It's a bad thing. So today I will start with pants...

Ok so I'll start of with jeans. My favorite cut is the matchstick. Skinny enough to tuck into some cute boots without them bunching but also very flattering for those you don't want the jegging look. Comes in a variety of washes from dark to light to white.

Next is cords. I am IN LOVE with these. They are called the toothpick cord. A skinny cord with a slightly cropped leg and zipper at the ankle. So cute with ballet flats or heels. You could even do them tucked into boots. Shown in navy, they also come in a light grey, off white, caramel brown, and light blue-green.

Now onto the next best thing since leggings. These are called the pixie pant. They fit like a legging but are made of stretch ponte (a very durable polyester knit), so they resist wrinkling and don't stretch out like regular leggings. So basically they will last 10 times longer and will actually keep you warm in the colder months because they are a heavier weight fabric. These come in black and charcoal grey.

Here is the minnie pant in stretch twill. A slim fitting cropped pant that can be dressed up or down and is SO comfortable. It's as simple as that. Shown in khaki and also comes in "vibrant flame" or what you may call red and black.

Cafe Capri in wool. These have the more classic fit of a trouser with a cropped leg. I love the wool version for fall and winter. They are very flattering on almost all figures. Can be dressed up or down very easily. Shown in navy and they come in a million other fabrics and colors.

And finally....chinos. The Bennett chino is our newest chino and my most favorite. A more slim fitting chino with what I think is the perfect inseam length. Looks great with almost any shoe. Shown in khaki and also comes in a mossy green, rust, and blue grey.

And there you have it! My favorite J.Crew pants. No I do not own any of these yet but I hope to have at least one pair in the near future. Go try some on for yourself and you'll see what I mean!

Client Progress

These lovely clients of mine just bought their first house after finishing medical school and we are having so much fun decorating it! We started with the living/dining room which is almost complete, and then we will be moving to the family room and office.  I think many people believe interior design happens quickly and you have to spend a lot of money all at once. That is one way you can decorate your home, but with this client we took it slow and steady. This results in an equally beautiful home. We came up with an overall design and concept to begin with, but were very flexible with reconfiguring the design as we went and buying things over time, not all at once.  We started with the key furniture pieces (sofa, chairs, console, dining table and chairs) and then a few months later added the side table, rug, light fixture, and mirrors.  Last week while I was in Utah we added the lamps and a few accessories and now we just need some window treatments a...
