Birds & Branches

I'm so excited to finally share some pictures from this amazing wedding I did the flowers for in May. You may remember me talking about it. The photos were taken by Jessica Janae Photography . She is amazing as I have said before. The bride was a cute girl I went to high school with that has great style as you can see from these pictures. Her dress, hair, and all the decor was so beautiful! You can go here and check out some more of her big day and some amazing photos from other weddings.

TOMS

So I know that every girl on the face of the planet now has a pair of TOMS, but before they became all the rage (about 2 summers ago, the typical amount of time it takes for Utah to catch on to the trends) I bought an army green pair and fell IN LOVE. They are SO comfortable. Especially when you're designing flowers for 13 hours straight like I was last Thursday. So when I saw this amazing coral linen pair at Lolabella last weekend I fell in love again. My first pair is pretty trashed from being worn while gardening and such, so like I said before, even though EVERYONE has a pair I will admit I still ordered them. The color is even more fabulous in person. The only problem was that every store in Utah that sells TOMS is out of this style/color in my size, as well as TOMS.com and a zillion other shoe websites. I thought for sure Nordstom.com would be out of them too (they didn't even have this color in the store) but I figured I would check and see and what do you ...

Strawberry Freezer Jam

The past few weeks strawberries have been at their peak, so my mom and I decided to take advantage and make some strawberry freezer jam. It is SO delicious! I'm bound and determined that I'm taking some with me to Iowa even if I have to pack it in a cooler. It makes the best PB&J (on Grandma Sycamore's White Bread of course) and a couple of spoonfuls added to a glass of lemonade makes the BEST strawberry lemonade! Here's the recipe if you want to try... For every batch you will need: 4 cups blended fruit (I like mine blended smooth) 1 1/2 cups sugar 1/3 cup Ball instant fruit pectin Mix the pectin and sugar in a bowl and then add fruit. Whisk for about 3 minutes or until it starts to thicken and the sugar/pectin is dissolved. Then just pour into jars! I love the little plastic ziploc jars. Let it sit for 24 hrs and the put in the freezer. It lasts for up to a year in the freezer (I'm always out of it by then) and 3 weeks in the fridge. ...

Mixed Feelings

We have had quite the summer so far and July is going to be the craziest! Between STILL finding a place to live, vacations, packing, moving, etc. we are going to be pretty busy. This past week Landon went to Florida for a national school competition and took 3rd place in economics! He had lots of fun at Universal Studios (especially the Harry Potter world), fishing, playing pool ball, and eating at yummy restaurants. But of course he missed his 2 buddies, Thor and I. :) The weekend before we went fishing with Landon's dad. Thor had lots of fun biting at the waves, trying to drag sticks from the water that were 5 times his size, running through the dirt, and chasing birds. I found some really cool dried driftwood on the shore where the lake had gone down. They are little mini sculptures in themselves. Great coffee table/side table pieces. I can't believe we are moving in a month! I definitely have mixed feelings about it. Both excited and nervous. Once I have a job and a ...

Beach Inspired

Go here and check out my friend Katie's latest post on the most amazing beach inspired home in the Utah Valley Parade of Homes. It is to die for! I would live there in a second.

Ah SO Gorgeous

You have to go check out this amazing wedding done by JL Designs. I have been following her blog for a while now and she does amazing work. Check out some of her past posts while you're over there. So back to this wedding...the venue...the family beach house in Newport Beach that has been in the bride's family for over a century! I can't even imagine! So I have some sneak peek pics for you but you'll really be missing out if you don't go see the rest here .

White Wedding

All white bouquets are becoming some of my favorites. I'm a sucker for texture and doing a monochromatic bouquet really plays it up. I love this bouquet below that we did last weekend. The flowers used were white roses, peonies, and stock. Simple and so pretty. We also hung chinese lanterns from the pergola in the gardens at Eldredge Manor where the ceremony and reception were held. I'm kind of over the whole chinese lantern fad. I think it's just because I'm in the wedding industry so I see them ALL the time. But for this wedding we did all white lanterns and I think it turned out awesome! Doing all white gave it a much more simple and modern look than the typical multi colored, whimsical look that I've seen EVERYWHERE. (All decor and flowers seen here by: La Belle Fleur.) This is another white bouquet from a past wedding. So simple and textural. Made of gardenias and tulips. LOVE it!

Oxfords

For my birthday last year I got these babies... I wear them all the time and love them! You can find them here . I love the contrast of wearing them with a skirt. A mix of masculine and feminine. So before Landon and I moved out of our apartment we were in the Primary teaching CTR 5. The first Sunday I wore them, I was sitting next to a little girl in our class during singing time. I noticed she kept staring at my shoes. Finally she whispered, "why are you wearing boy shoes?" So cute and funny. Her dad probably had some oxfords in his closet at home. Oh the things kids say. What are your feelings about oxfords? Too masculine or love them? I am in love. I do think that you have to pick the right pair though. Some have a more feminine, slim look to them and others look like you really did steal your dad's big clod-hoppers. :)

Puppy Time

Time to talk some more about the puppy. Landon's nieces and nephews are in LOVE with Thor. Especially cute little Adlen who could carry him around all day long. They are so cute with him. I'm pretty sure he'll do alright around kids with all the attention he has been getting lately. Also, Thor has become a good little helper and loves to assist in doing the dishes. He's quite good at washing the silverware. ;) We love this little guy! He's getting bigger and bigger but I hardly even notice it and he's got one of those puppy faces that can get you to do just about anything with one look.

Lake Powell

This sunny warm day is making me excited for Lake Powell! We don't go until July this year so we've still got a few weeks to wait. We have gone on this trip ever since I can remember and every year it's still a blast! Last year we invited along my Uncle Scott and his family. It was such a fun time! My cousin's husband, James, made this video of our trip. Go check it out. It will make you want to come along to...

Beautiful Bridals

I am SO in love with these bridal pictures. The location, the dress, the shoes, the flowers, the hair, and this girl is gorgeous! I went to junior high school with both her and the photographer. She is one amazing photographer and she is only 20 years old! Her stuff could be in magazines! If you are in need of a photographer I would highly recommend her! Here is a link to her blog. Go check out her other amazing work! You will be far from disappointed. So as far as the styling for this pictures goes, look at the details because they are amazing. The detail on the dress is to die for. The pockets, the jewel detailing at the waist, and the detail on the bodice of the dress, not to mention the color! If you didn't notice, it's pink! I'm not usually a fan of colored dresses, but this is so cute on her. I don't think it's pink enough to be over the top. AAH! I love it! I will stop babbling and let you enjoy the pictures... ...
