The Happy Color...Yellow

So every once in a while I go through color phases, and right now it's yellow.

"Yellow shines with optimism, enlightenment, and happiness. Shades of golden yellow carry the promise of a positive future. Yellow will instill optimism and energy, as well as spark creative thoughts."

So hopefully this means I'll be getting some really great creative inspiration in the near future. :)
I don't know what it is about it but I have a love hate relationship with this color. Sometimes I'm in love with it and can't get enough yellow, other times, I can't stand it. So this time around, my yellow phase started with this awesome find at TJMaxx...

I've actually been looking for a higher chest to put on this wall so that I could lean a mirror on it, but when I saw this, I fell in love, and knew it was definitely coming home with me. The price tag made it even easier to cave in.

Then came along this amazing yellow wedding that we did a few weeks ago at Noah's in South Jordan. It had a very garden feel and made me fall even more in love with yellow. I think if I could choose again, I would have yellow flowers for my own wedding, but who knows, it may just be "the phase" talking. :)

I LOVE this asymmetrical arrangement we did for their sign in table. There was a blizzard outside that day which made sunny yellow even better! They took pictures outside the temple in the snow and it was so cold her bouquet actual froze. Luckily we had extra flowers and were able to rework another one for the reception.

Client Progress

These lovely clients of mine just bought their first house after finishing medical school and we are having so much fun decorating it! We started with the living/dining room which is almost complete, and then we will be moving to the family room and office.  I think many people believe interior design happens quickly and you have to spend a lot of money all at once. That is one way you can decorate your home, but with this client we took it slow and steady. This results in an equally beautiful home. We came up with an overall design and concept to begin with, but were very flexible with reconfiguring the design as we went and buying things over time, not all at once.  We started with the key furniture pieces (sofa, chairs, console, dining table and chairs) and then a few months later added the side table, rug, light fixture, and mirrors.  Last week while I was in Utah we added the lamps and a few accessories and now we just need some window treatments a...
