You Still There?

My last post was in May and it is now.... almost October. Wow I have been a slacker. Mostly just more school and work for us around here. We have had a chance to do a couple of fun things lately though. My mom came for a week back in August and we took her to the good 'ol Iowa State Fair. I also took her to a couple of the famous local spots including Fong's Pizza and Snookie's Malt Shoppe. Both are DELICIOUS. If you come visit I'll take you there too ;) We also had a little crafty time and made a dip dyed table runner. Lastly, of course we had to take a trip to somewhere new so we headed to Kansas City, MO for an overnighter, where we did some shopping, sightseeing, and ended with an endowment session at the new temple. Such a great time, so sad she is gone :( But I will be heading to Utah the first part of November so I just have to hold out until then. So excited to see the new Anthro and West Elm at City Creek!  Landon, Thor and I have been able to hit up ...

Yep...We're Still Here In Iowa

Yes we are still alive here in Iowa. Sorry it's been awhile. Mostly I just go to work. Eat. Sleep. Go to work. Work some more. And then work some more. It's nice it keeps me busy but I am getting a bit burned out lately so I talked Landon into getting a pass to the YMCA down the street. I went to my first yoga class there this week and feel like I definitely need to mix in some more things such as this into my week. I also finally got our spare bedroom organized and turned into my makeshift craft room and am hoping to find myself back in the painting mode very soon. I just have to remember to keep the balance and not forget to do the things I love! I am also very excited to announce that we got a new sofa a couple of weeks ago. Yay! And what do you know, it's the "Landon" sofa from Pottery Barn :) Lovin it, but still looking for an ottoman. I don't like the ones that go with the sofa, too matchy matchy for me. I think I'm wanting something with a little ...

I would like to exercise my right to the First Amendment without comment PLEASE!

Ok here it goes. I know the title of this post is something that is practically impossible in the America of our day, but I can dream right? Oh and another disclaimer for this post...I'm writing this to vent and I figured at least this is a better place to do it than on Facebook. Hopefully it will save me from most of the crazy comments. It's normally not in my nature to get into heated debates about world issues but I just can't help myself with this one. Being bashed for no good reason about posting a video just makes me frustrated I guess :) I received the Kony 2012 video a couple of days ago from a friend at work and after watching it was kind of disgusted with myself that I didn't know hardly anything about this issue. I knew there were horrible things happening but not any of the details. I've never been one to donate to every little campaign sent my way so I had no intention of donating to the fund, especially without doing my research first, but jus...

Hodge Podge

As you can tell I don't have much time for blogging and when I do have time I'm not in the blogger mood, thus a month has gone by since my last post. So here is a hodge podge of what has happened here in Iowa lately... Landon is studying for finals and tomorrow is his last one! YAY! One semester of law school done! And in a week we get to come home to Utah for Christmas! I can't tell you how excited I am. I have been counting down since Thanksgiving. I finally finished decorating for Christmas last week. I should have started earlier so that I could enjoy them longer. We didn't get a tree this year since we won't be here, so I crammed all of our decorations elsewhere. When it comes to Christmas, I say the more the merrier right? ;) That's what I keep telling myself. I don't actually have many Christmas decorations other than for our tree so I decided to do some DIY decor while my mom was here for Thanksgiving. So that's my other justification for ...

Nauvoo

Looking through the bullet hole in the door at Carthage you can see the window that Joseph fell out of At the burial site of Joseph & Hyrum Such an amazing temple The window at Carthage Crossing the Missisippi to get to Nauvoo Here are the pictures from Nauvoo I promised. We went a few weekends ago while Landon's mom Becky was here. We went to Carthage as well, which is only about 30 min. from Nauvoo, and the drive there was awesome. You follow the Mississippi river the whole way and the huge trees lining the sides of the river bank arch over the road. Even better was that all the leaves were changing. It was...

Long Lost Blogger

Sorry if you've missed me.  It's been crazy around here. And it still is.  As I am typing this there is a basket of laundry that needs to be folded and more in the dryer, everything from my shopping trip to Costco is still sitting on our kitchen table, our bathroom needs to be cleaned, Landon ate leftovers for dinner, and that's just the start of it.  But after work today all I wanted was to do absolutely nothing.  We just launched Crewcuts at our store today so there was a lot to do.  Work has definitely kept me busy.  For the first time ever, I am scheduled for a Saturday off this week and I'm so excited to be able to hang out with Landon for the day.  Usually we just see each other in the morning and, depending on my work schedule, a couple hours at night. I think a trip to Omaha is in store, but I think this time we'll stick to I-80 and skip good ol' Beebeetown, Iowa. ;)  I have so much to catch up on! I have some yummy...

The Guardian Angel in Beebeetown, Iowa

Last weekend my mom flew out for her first visit and we had such a great time. She made it feel like home here. Don't get me wrong, Landon is the best of everything and I definitely couldn't be here without him. There is just a special relationship that a girl has with her mom, well atleast I do being the only girl. We did everything from crafting, cooking, painting our walls, talking, shopping, and best of all getting lost and almost running out of gas in the middle of nowhere. And I got the whole weekend off of work, which was a nice break for me as well. We made some really cute Halloween bunting banners out of burlap that I found on pinterest, yummy peach cobbler with the fresh Utah peaches my mom carried on the plane with her (they don't have good fresh peaches in Iowa) and spent all day Saturday painting almost the entire condo. Even Landon was surprised how much we got done. We painted over those chocolate pudding walls in the bedroom and living room, one of th...
